Kids Fest: Stages in the square
Kids Fest: Stages in the Square has become one of New York City’s best outdoor performing arts festival for families. I designed this public festival in 2015 to showcase award-winning talent across music, puppetry, theatre, magic, spoken word, dance and circus performance to over 10,000 people. I curate each of the four stages, and I work hard to create organic performance spaces in the natural setting of the Park. I pay extra attention to the flow of the event to ensure that there is always a hay bale to sit on or a place to lay down your blanket for whichever show you wish to see as a family. Each year I design and handcraft the stage decor and sprinkle decor throughout the green space so children of all ages can feel the magic of the event. It’s a playground full of amazing talent and moments that surprise New York City families.
Kids Fest was expanded in 2019 to include a pre-festival show to highlight circus art. Kids Fest: Circus in the Circle was a response to the lack of performance options for local and traveling circus artists. I’m proud to support the talented community of circus artists through this event.
